Peter Thuku is an accomplished audit and risk professional with over 18 years of experience spanning Internal Audit, Data Analytics, Compliance, and Banking Operations. He previously served as Audit Manager at Equity Bank, where he also held regional roles as Head of Internal Audit for Equity Bank Tanzania and Equity Bank Rwanda.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K). He has undertaken extensive professional training in data analytics and risk management. He is highly proficient in SQL, ACL Robotics, and the integration of data analytics into audit methodologies to enhance assurance and operational efficiency.

In his current role as Head of Internal Audit at Middle East Bank, Peter provides independent, objective assurance and advisory support on governance, risk management, and internal controls. He leads the development and execution of the Bank’s risk-based audit plan and supports the Board Audit Committee in fulfilling its oversight mandate.
